About Us
Our Story
Locked Out Love was created through the experiences of our founder, Camille Stephens' son, as he served federal time in prison. While serving time, he recognized that many incarcerated individuals, including himself, lacked the support, knowledge, and resources to prepare for reentry. Like many, Camille’s son struggled to adjust after his release. He describes the reentry process as overwhelming– hard to make decisions and understand the path forward. Through his testimony, experience, communication, and advocacy, it became clear that Locked Out Love needed to be born.
What we know to be true is that when you make a mistake or you’ve done something wrong, people won’t trust you, maybe they shouldn’t because the truth is, Camille’s son could have made another mistake and wound up back in prison. But like other program participants, Locked Out Love gave him a second chance. Since his re-entry, he has been connected to a mentor and he was ready to change.
A lot of incarcerated individuals need resources when they get out. To have an organization that can help you with resources, something even as simple as getting underwear, means a lot.
Locked Out Love is committed to creating an atmosphere of love, support, and concern for each new program participant. We are not just about programs and services; we create an experience that fosters hope and transformation.
At Locked Out Love, we believe in the power of meaningful connections. We believe that every individual, regardless of their circumstances, deserves to embrace love, hope, and the opportunity for positive change.
